In defence of allt things contemporary...
There is a definite tendecny to look back to the past with teary-eyed sentimentality. The brain only wants to remember the good things and cuts out the dead wood. So what i'm saying is that in 30 years we'll look back and say... things were so good in the 2000s (is that we you call them?) we had:
The white stripes
LOTR trilogy
Harry potter books
Championship manager
and who knows what else...
We might conveniently forget:
Matchobx twenty
Matrix reloaded
Playstation games in general
wearing your boxer shorts above your trousers
Either that or we'll look back upon them with nostalgia and forgot that they were actually a pile of crap e.g. 'Pong' - tons of nostaligia value, but was it ever gonna be a 300hr marathon?
In conclusion...there was just as much s**t then as there is now - we just don't remember it.
