What you're talking about is a verified seller account, not just a seller account. Now, while I haven't exactly bought a ton of stuff on eBay, I can tell you that a seller's being verified has never come into play for me. I look at feedback and responses.
You might want to hold off on this until you really need it.
You can also check eBay's notes on the process. I don't think they maintain any of your data once you've been verified.
That being said, I'm extremely leery of anyone who thinks they need my mortgage information...
