I agree, Sir K, they should have sold it. If they then needed any of the items they've sold, they can use the money they got from selling all that other junk they DON'T need to buy it.

And sometimes you'll be amazed what some people are willing to pay for other peoples junk.

Edit: Giving it away to charity is also a possibility if there's any organization nearby that accept it.
