Maybe I just have a different mindset. Put it this way.

I currently use Hotmail for free and access it from Outlook Express. No effect on that account.

If I sign up for a new Hotmail account I won't be able to access it directly via Outlook Express. No biggie.

If I want to integrate Hotmail into Outlook, it's going to cost me for a premium service. It's of no use to me so I won't sign up.

Therefore I'm no worse off. As far as I'm concerned I've had and will still have, the use of an e-mail service that costs me nothing. I don't demand that it will always cost me nothing, but while it does, I'm happy to take advantage of it.
