It looks like my parents will be directly in the path of the storm. They live in Mandeville, just north of the lake. Fortunately they evacuated at 4am this morning, but the house that they were about to put on the market might be history!

I hope all the tens of thousands of people still in downtown New Orleans can survive this ordeal. It could easily turn into a death trap if the water from lake Pontchartrain is pushed over the levies. The classic French Quarter and much of the area's history is probably going to be erased if that happens. The city was nearly devestated by the last direct hit from a hurricane, and that was a MUCH weaker storm.

Damn, where did this monster come from... Two days ago is was just another hurricane grazing Florida. Now it's imminent death and destruction.
