Wel, to each his own. Personally, I always enjoyed Baldurs Gate 1 a bit more, because you have considerably more freedom. Baldurs Gate 2, however, is a truly massive game and also consider to be one of the best RPG's ever. Personally, I'd recomend you to buy Baldurs Gate 1 first, as 2 is a direct sequel of the first part. When playing Baldurs Gate 2, you'll even be able to import your character from the original.
