You need to be pretty aerobically fit in rugby union as the game has much fewer stoppages than American football. If you're a forward you will be required to clean out at rucks, take the ball up, and tackle virtually non-stop. And God help you if you are tackled and end up on the wrong side of the ruck - you will definitely get bootmarks all over you.
