hacking can also be beneficial in some aspects, as mentioned above it is all based on the individual's code of ethics, for example contrary to what many people believe i do have some ethics left, a fair while a go i "hacked" into the school server and that was a learning experience, i did nothing wrong nor did i want to, well i might have been tempted but i didn't. I now have other intrests and i look back on things like that as part of my education and hopefully in the future i will get a job with computers and my past will have taught me things such as possible security flaws which need to be removed. As i look back i see no real future in hacking just something to do when i was younger and bored.
Back onto the subject whether they are good or no, well they have their applications such as i mentioned finding security flaws, in fact many major corporations hire them to test their networks and help them make it more secure, but as with everything there are allways the bad few.
Also website defacement can be crippeling especially to smaller corporations (but funny when it happens to mcdonalds)
