Two bits of advice (if you haven't tried them already).

1) Drink a Potion of Invisibility and sneak into the cage on the left. Mae'var's assassins can somehow "hear" you and will come rushing right up to your character - even when you're invisible. So lead them into the cage, then run out and close the door behind you. They will still be able to shoot at you, but if you run back to the "top" of the cage (where you come down the steps), you should be able to back up enough to pick them off one at a time.

2) After that, just sit and WAIT. Eventually all of Mae'var's buffs go down on their own (it will take about 10-15 minutes real time IIRC) and then he is MUCH easier to attack.
