I got hooked on PnP while I was in college, so when I saw a PC game based on the AD&D game, it naturally caught my interest. Unfortunately, I didn't have a home computer at the time.
By the time I bought a PC for the house, BG1&2 were somewhat "old news". I was still interested in getting a copy, but the PC I bought (from my college roommate) had Duke Nuke'em and Doom 1&2 already loaded, so I played those for quite awhile. Then one of my other PnP buddies told me he had an extra copy of Baldur's Gate 1&2 and would let me have them if I was interested.
I said "Of course I'm interested". I created a fighter in BG1, played him all the way through and then converted him to a Wizard Slayer in BG2. That is also the only character I've actually finished SoA with so far.
