I'd advise first loading your save, saving to a new slot, then quitting the game out. Restart and reload the new save and try again? This works to fix some problems with the ring of free action and boots of speed (when nothing else will). Or try removing your Override folder then loading IWD again to kill frost giants. This was a fix for the common "end of the game crash."

Have you been using DaleKeeper or cheats?
