Regarding the first half of the thread, can I just say... relax?
I sense a bit of hostility here, most likely unintentional and originating from the high unemployment amongst smilies.

Taran, they only kid you. Whether you kill Drizzt or not is entirely up to you. Most people won't (except by way of experiment) fight and slay a famous character featuring in several novels. Others are happy to kill him for the items, for the challenge, or just because they hate Drizzt's guts .

And since it's your game, you can play it as you like. If the Drizzt in the game could be killed by a commoner from Candlekeep, and you don't want to highlight the next bit, (which basically says: yes I finished the series but don't want to spoil anything. If you've finished the series too you'll know what I'm talking about, otherwise it's for the best,) then that's what became of the drow. If you let him live, then he moves on. Simple as that. (Arledrian, if they wanted Drizzt to be unkillable, they could have made him unkillable. The option to fight him was put there deliberately, so was his ability to die and leave you his weapons and armour ).

And roleplay vs. powerplay? That's a different discussion. Neither are bad, usually there's a route inbetween and you just go with your preferences.
