If the masked is charged then do not wear it. Put it in your inventory and go and see the old devil.
While he is prattleing on select the character with the mask and select the use command in the inventory wondow. scroll through until you find the mask then click on big H.
He will now get the heebie jeebies and your weapons will hit him.
