I never have the patience to do that myself, Green_Athena, and for myself, it really just kind of takes away from the game. Back in the days of the old Wizardry games, it was more important to do that (sit and roll and roll and roll and roll for hours to make your characters). With Wizards and Warriors, it's really not necessary. I can generally come up with a cast of 6 characters with fairly good stats within 30-40 minutes. The only reason you may want to roll high is to get good INT scores for your characters (so they'll progress faster with their skill points) or to be able to role change sooner (better for warriors). I always take longer in rolling my starting warrior so he can change to Paladin soon off and start getting the Spirit spells so needed in the Crypt!

Again, it's all the way one chooses to play it.
