The book in question is:
“A Wizard of Earthsea.”
It was the first book in a trilogy the other’s being “The Tombs of Atuan and “The farthest Shore”
In recent years LeGuin has added three new books set in Earthsea:
“Tehanu”
“Tales from Earthsea” (a collection of short stories set in this world)
“The Other Wind”
