Uhm, maybe you know, then you can ignore this... but you DO know that the patches are not backwards-compatible? And that the patches also fix the save-games, i.e. you can't use savegames from newer patches with a game that has only older/no patches? Sounds a bit like this might be your problem...

Edit: Oh well, just read your post again, and saw that you also have trouble using the newest patch... sorry, can't help you, I guess you'd better contact ST.
