regarding rfs not being affected, he does have a "natural" 100% resistance to mental. any bonuses on top can make him
extremely difficult to hit with turncoat or insanity.
BUT some people have reported it happening (personally, i've never seen it
)
so yes, a bit of luck, but the deck is stacked in rfs's favour to start with
