I agree, despite the weaknesses of the game, the dragons are still pretty tough. Usually one of my characters are hurt very bad, or die. heck, I actually raise them during the battle so they can still get the XP. Heheh! Just to let you know, I go full out against the dragons. No sneaky tatics like traps.
PnP dragons are tougher though, and SMARTER!

BTW: How many tries did it take to beat the dragons your first time. Me, it is the following...
Shadow - 3
Red - 6
Silver - never fought, but will soon
Black - 2
Hell -avoided fighting
