Errrmmm....well I JUST finished the Flayer lair and I must confess that once I had the circlets and successively mind-controlled the flayers, I had no problems opening any doors (or killing anything either hehe)...so it must be a temporary bug, which has actually happened several times to me. Silly as it sounds try restarting your computer and reloading your game?
On a side note make sure you check all the tables in the Ithilid lair and kill all the monsters behind the gladiator pit, the ones kept in standing coffins...the insane dwarf in the middle one gives you a 50% fire resist ring when you wax him.
