To New Horizons involve the players as explorers and adventurers with their own agendas reaching a brave new world through a mystical portal. They may be posessed by wanderlust, a desire for knowledge or be someone's agent, but fact is they are on a new world that they know little of and must survive. And who knows what schemes they might get entangled in along the way?
Some traditional fantasy will be involved, but that the same time there will be some departures.
The rulesystem is 2nd edition AD&D, if you don't know it, don't worry, we're very willing to help and you don't need to create some sort of combat/magic powerhouse to survive. Generally your survival depends on not doing anything stupid, random chance is involved, but I'm likely to be lenient unless it's your own fault, it's combat or you know the risks involved.
However, when it comes down to you having done something stupid, be prepared for the worst. I encourage independent thinking, and I will not drag players through an adventure by the nose. If you stand around looking at your shoes, you will go nowhere, if you talk to people, explore, ask questions and generally act like you've got a purpose, you'll either get killed real quick or have some fun. There is an overarching plot, but every player is free to ignore it or get embroiled in it as they wish, if someone departs the general area they may find other plots, or a series of wholly unrelated minor incidents, or they can make their own plots.

Game News
-Never any limit to the number of applicants, as long as they're serious and fulfill the recruitment criteria.
New players will need to meet the following criteria:
-Post once every one or two days, ideally once a day.
-Be able to write legibly.
-Have some degree of initiative.
-Have a sense of humour and not confuse bad things happening to their character with bad intentions towards their real life selves.
