Hello,
I do believe that I caught most of it. O.K., she and her kin lived far south of Amn. One day, she was flying about. She saw a group of humans down below. Coming closer, she saw them chasing (people?) a boy. She swooped down to snatch him away to safety. Alas, the weight of the boy slowed her enough so that one of the slavers caught her in a net.
The slavers sold her to a circus, which kept her on display in a small cage. The cage must have been pretty small (hello, get a bigger cage to have a better show for folks...), because her wings "atrophied" and were at last sawn-off when they became infected with a life-threatening infection. Quayle then took her in and cared for her (also teaching her about his gnomish god).
Now, did they both stay with the same circus, or (oddly either way) run away to join another circus?? She is still terribly emotionally upset when the party comes across her, but, at the same time, she has been left with a burning desire to fight injustice.
