Respect to you for learning heiroglyphs - I am doing an archaeology degree, but unfortunately no Egyptian component to it (Classical Greek, Roman & Medieval only). Perhaps if archaeology paid enough to live on I would have found my calling there, the pay is really poor though, very few jobs, and usually on very short contracts with periods of unemployment.
PB, looks like you're into sciences, computing and geography. Had you thought of looking into Geographical Information Systems (GIS)? This is a growing area in Britain, one which I am interested in myself (it is one of the areas of computer use which is finally being put to good use in archaeology). It is also used in the department I work in (MAFF) to track the spread of epidemics
