1. If you are going to use Maguc Resistance; cast it at as low a level as possible. It gives something like 2% magic resistance per level of the caster and if this is lower than the subjects initial resistance, it will lower it to the set value. After you do this, cast "Lower Resistance" at as HIGH a level as possible.
2. Rest before you go in to fight; this is to have full HP and memorisation.
3. Spells to memorise- KNOW THE TYPE OF DRAGON. Against one that breaths fire (such as Firkraag), memorise all the protection from fire spells you can, no other protective spells. Use summons which are resistive to the element, as mentioned above. DO NOT memorise any other spells which use that element, as they will be useless.
EDIT Don`t forget the spells to remove the dragons defences. Things like breach, Warding Whip, etc. Also, spells to stop it casting spells- Insect Plague works quite well.
4. DO NOT use traps. If you even use one trap against a dragon, even if it doesn`t do damage, the game will not give you any XP for killing it. This is true for Firkraag and the Shadow Dragon; so ir would be best to assume that it is also true for the many others in the game.
5. Have some of your party melee it, others use ranged weapons. Don`t stick to one if you can use both. Use the dragon helm, shield, and sword you find in the first part of Firkraags dungeon; and the most powerful weapons you have. There is a bow in Trademeet which fires phantom arrows- it works well, as does the Flail of Ages +3.
