The only person to blame for Bush's presidency is Al Gore himself. If he hadn't equivocated and dodged and answered many debate questions by agreeing with Bush, more people would have voted for him. The man couldn't even win his home state, or Clinton's home state! Give me a break! People believed in Nader and what he had to say. They realized that Al Gore and Bush were essentially the same candidate. That's why so many supported Nader. Some still do.
That's why so many supported Dean! Some don't any more. Some, like I, mourn his loss. He was the only candidate that seemed different from the others. But the public demands to be coddled and equivocated to. That's what led to Dean's fall. That and the howl thing. That was just bad judgement, even I will admit that.
