The change to demilich is a script, and starts with dialogue; thus, he needs to be able to speak to you. Anything that will cause him to not be able to notice you or speak to you will postpone the change.

Kangaxx is imune to all spells (is that only demi-lich, or both?) Ah well, it matters not, all liches are imune to level 5 and lower spells. the only silence spell that will affect a normal lich is power wrod: silence and that only lasts 3 rounds. He said an hour. Protection from undead doesn't last that long either. I think its the bug(see above)
