The problem is the men in these cultures have real issues with sex. Real, serious, psychotic issues.
All people through all time have struggled for power over one another, and it's always been hard to concede power.**** Half of the society, the males, are really fearful of women gaining power, and have over time set up these insane institutions in their culture to oppress women and make the men crazy afraid of them.
**** Footnote/tangent. This has generally been true, but not always. Caucasion males are the most notable example, as they have over the past century spent their time raising up others in power, and have made it anathema to even talk about helping each other. So, while the United Negro College Fund and the Jewish United Fund have the explicit purpose of helping out their demographic, to talk of providing assitance to fellow whites because they are white will get you ostracized and maybe even arrested.
