A more detailed walkthrough on how to get to the chat channel, using mIRC.

Download and install mIRC onto your computer.
Go to the mIRC Options, and select the Connect category.
Click on the Add button.
Under Description:, type in anything( Ironworks for me).
Under IRC Server:, type in the following, dallas.tx.us.undernet.org
Under Ports:, leave it as 6667.
Under Group:, type in anything( Ironworks for me).
After filling in the above, click on the Add button.
Click on the Connect to IRC Server button.
Type /join #ironworks in the bar at the bottom of the window titled, Undernet ~your nick~.
