Yes, the rampant commercialism of the holiday gets to pretty much everyone, I'd be willing to bet. I personally don't like it. But I have too many wonderful associations with Christmas to let it get me down for too long...that and I'm able to avoid it for the most part.
Megabot, my family and I do something similar to that. We have no small children in the family any more (the youngest is now 34, LOL!) so we all exchange 1 gift apiece, and something quite small. It's more important in us being together than "gimme gimme get get". So I know exactly where you're coming from.
I will admit, listening to the radio during the season gets me hopping mad sometimes because of the 10 minutes every half-hour of really stupid advertising that keeps getting shoved at us. So if I want to hear any Christmas music, I'll plug in one of my Mannheim Steamroller CD's or Paracelt CD's and enjoy it that way.
My favorite thing to do of the season? Ride around in the evenings and see the Christmas lights. [img]smile.gif[/img]
