I was driving north along the N59 when an amazing beauty caught my eye. She had stormy wind-swept blue crystal eyes, which reflected a beautiful stone house, surrounded by trees. I could also see in the reflection a rocky green mountainside, stretching proudly upward to bury itself within a white cloud that was strolling across the afternoon’s blue sky. I blinked my eyes and she was gone. Later, as I got lunch at a pub, I asked the barman about her. “Oh…” he said with a reserved smile, “…that’s just Connemara.”
