Well, I think we can all tell stories of not-so-great meetings in person so it isn't unusual to have same in online relationships!

In online meetings you have more time to think about what you will say, more time to get used to each other without worrying 'is my hair ok, did I brush my teeth, will he notice I buttoned my shirt crooked?' kind of stuff. But on the other hand, in person you get the body language signals, the facial expressions and tone of voice. Although, that last is less an issue if you use voicechat or phone to converse.
