We have a thread for Classic Threads, and it occured to me that it might be nice to compile a list of all the story threads ever made.
Criteria for selection, 1) It must be complete before submission for approval. No hanging on the second last chapter or such. 2) There must be visible effort in writing the story. No "We had ale and kicked lots of ass" ad infinitium. 3) Above all. It must be entertaining. ---- Submit entries via PM. The thread need not be yours, you can promote other people's efforts too. |

Sounds like a good idea. It was done in the W&W Forum. Why not have a separate sticky created for the story, though? That's the way Wyvern did it over in the Wizards and Warriors forum. That way, people actually read the story. You're less likely to read it if you have to go search for it.

i think the stories are great - thanks again to all those who post them - its a nice idea to identify them
my reaction (and i realise that i don't want to tell people what to write and i don't want to give people more work etc. etc.) is to edit them somehow as they tend to digress a lot - having replies keeps the stories alive and allow people to add their own anecdotes and compare war stories without disrupting the 'flow' but the threads often digress into detailed tactics discussions and spoilers (the current solo cleric through weimer land would be an example) just a thought EDIT: realised i might come across as critical of rataxes great work - it was just that stuck in my mind as a recent example - oh i don't know! I prefer to minimise the number of sticky threads, so the Story Threads will be a second post in the Classic Threads thread. The title of the thread will also be edited.
---- Yes, just BG2 stories. Other stories go into the Roleplaying Forum. ---- Tactical talk is unfortunately almost unavoidable unless you do not mind people barraging you with questions on how you did it. However, I do admit that "active-voice" writing is almost always more superior to "passive-voice" writing. So instead of, Quote:

I think the Adventures of Elmonster written by K. Dorner (of Baldurdash fame) is a good example of a gaming write-up. It's a long, first-person narrative that not only describes the battle tactics of a solo mage but roleplaying decisions as well. All of this is told through Elmonster's point of view. It's neat to read what quests he did, and what quests he didn't do, and how he justified his decisions. He plays his alignment beautifully, IMO. Since this is a Dundee Slaytern production (tm), we are assured quality decisions, so I won't say anything more on content. ![]()

Can the Bg2 story be fiction based or does it have to be one of how we actually went about the game?

That is an interesting idea, more so since it occured to me to try it too (but I decided to pen one for IWD instead).
Sure, it can be a fictional account of a fictional game. ![]() |

Does it have to be a solo account, or are stories of parties welcome too? It just seems that solo stories are all the rage at the moment...
