This post contains some ***ITEM SPOILERS***, but nothing major...
. . . Just for fun I made a party out of all the classes suggested as "the best to solo with." They pretty much eased through most of the game, but it was still kinda fun. Here's what I wound up with (through ToB & with 1 item cheat - I cheated in Blackrazor right after Chateau Irenicus just 'cause I'd never actually used it before)... Fighter/Mage/Thief - Blackrazor & Dagger of the Stars Kensai-->Mage - Celestial Fury & Sanchuudoku Ranger/Cleric - Flail of Ages & Crom Faeyr Swashbuckler - Short Sword of Mask & Quietus Sorcerer - Firetooth/Staff of the Magi [NPC slot] --> eventually Soulafein - Improved Daystar & Defender of Easthaven Most of my games I play for a challenge or to try to experience something I've never played before, but occasionally I like to play a dominating party that eases past everything & this was one of the latter. If you're ever having a bad day & need to release some tension, try this party out. I wound up using no missile weapons (other than Firetooth & that was when my Sorcerer couldn't be bothered with wasting spells ) & eventually my spells took a backseat (other than buffing) to the amazing melee power I could dish out. Still, every once in a while it was fun to send 4 Fireballs at a gang of enemies or have 2 Thieves running around setting traps. Some of the weapons could be improved, but I figured I was so far ahead of the power curve to start with I'd try some weapons I almost never use (Dagger of the Stars). Still, any suggestions on improving these guys would be welcome, as I might like to revive this experiment from time to time. It was a lot of fun to try out once, but combining all the best solo classes into a group produced pretty much the results you'd expect it to. - Imrahil |

I also made myself a dualwielding powergaming party:
Kensai/Mage (Katanas of course) Ranger/Cleric (Flails) Fighter/Thief (Pitchwife, Quietus, Carsomyr - he, he) Solaufein (Upg. Daystar, Crom) and . . Blade (Scimitars, Axes - but mostly IMPROVED BARD SONG) (only 5 of them, they level up faster) That's how you can improve your characters ! Check the stats for the imp. bard song - it HELPS ! I didn't play for a while, but they are ready at the seals in the 5. level of WK. And I intend to open them all at once. ![]()

I just didn't feel like starting a "hey, I wanna use Blackrazor" game & a "hey, I wanna try all the best Solo classes" game separately, so I combined them . I've only got so much time to try "hey, I wanna try X" games, after all... Maybe I shouldn't have even mentioned my little cheat, but I felt a pang of guilt by leaving it out. Maybe it detracted from my overall point, though - the point was how much fun it was cruising through with all the Solo classes combined in one party (plus, now I need to plan out a few "excessive challange" parties - hmm... all Bards? just to counter the ease of using those classes). Still, ignoring my excessive cheat, I'm pointing out a "near-perfect" party & wondering what improvements towards "perfect" could be made. ![]() - Imrahil |
