Did you listen to anything the gnome said ?? [img]tongue.gif[/img] He says that you need it to find Adalon. So go find Adalon.

Hint: you need a light gem to find her, so go to somewhere that would likely be quite dark.

Yes, you can. Though I always have tons of useless quest items at the end of the game. Even now when I know they are useless, I don't toss them.
