See topic. I'm assuming that an Assassin with Poison Weapon is the best class, but how about equipment? I'm, unsure about one thing, though...even if I can obtain maximum possible poison damage, will he (the assassin) be able to actually hit something?

I'm gonna assume you have ToB, judging from your other posts.
Assassins are quite capable fighters...though they should not be involved in a straight fight by any means. One of my (current) favorite solos is an Assassin(26) dualled to a Fighter. Can fight, huge strength, obliterates things. Anyways, for weapons, I would personally advise dual-wielding Dagger of the Star +5/Angurvadal, or possibly Purifier and the DotS, with a girdle of X giant strength, depending on how much you need girdles for the rest of your party. Another possibility would be the Short Sword of Mask, though. I wouldn't advise dual-wielding DotS/SSoM together, simply because one will only get one attack a round. Better to improve the main hand with that off-hand weapon (Crom, Angurvadal, Belm, Kundane.) Wear White Dragon Scale, or Grandmaster's Armour. Other than that, Ring of Gaxx, Amulets are up to you, Gauntlets of Extraordinary Specialization I like. Note another thing...I haven't played a non-solo game of BG2 in about 4 months. My post is designed to give your main character the best equipment possible. Some of these items might be better off in the hands of someone else in the party. Most of my points stand. Check out Egervari's excellent equipment FAQ at GameFAQs.com for more ideas. ![]() EDIT => Also note that, later in the game, poison weapons are a lot less effective, as more creatures have lower saving throws. The x7 backstab is the main attraction for an assassin. [ 07-21-2003, 09:28 PM: Message edited by: True_Moose ]

I'm still going for an Assassin/Fighter...the A/C is better suited to solo (imo). I do have questions, however-
1. As this isn't a solo character, how quickly would I be able to gain 27 levels? At that level, I would be pretty far into the game, so having a level 1 fighter wouldn't work too well. Once he levelled, he'd be able to fend for himself, but I don't want to wait until ToB for the A/F. 2. DotS or SSoM? I like both, but I can't pick one. DotS has a possibility for invisibility and extra elemental damage, while SSoM can entangle and drain levels (iirc). They are my two favorite weapons, so I can't decide, lol. The off hand will be Angurvadal, however.

I've decided to do something else. Although it is *somewhat* cheesy, I am leveling a pure Fighter to level 13, and dualling to an Assassin via Shadow Keeper. It is possible if you are roleplaying; specializing in a second profession is possible. It's not a Kensai/Assassin, anyway. With the Fighter proficiencies in Dual, Dagger, and Short Sword, I will be able to dual-weild DotS and SSoM effectively (more than 1 apr). Any opinions on this are welcome.
