Hey guys, I need some help on this Nalia Mod. Now I've sked peeps time and time again (and no offense to some of you), but all i've heard is that you have to install it first before any other mods, and where to get it downloaded from. The problem I had with this the first time is that when I downloaded it, it had no readme to tell me where to install it, (which I did into the main directory) and it screwed everything up. So can anyone give me instructions on how to install it?

Its a weidu mod, so, unzip it to you BG2 folder *using a decent unzip program*. Even in this day and age, there are still programs out there that dont handle subfolders correctly. Anyway, you should end up with a folder isnide your BG2 folder, which will contain all the files for the mod, and a setup program. Run the setup program. The websites for most weidu mods point to the directions for isntalling the Soulafein mod, so its probably worth checking out how to install that mod.

(Sigh) Lemme try and see if I can explain this any better.

I went to www.cs.berkeley.edu/~weimer/bgate/ and downloaded the mod. But I didn't see any readme for the download it, so I threw it in my documents. I went to the folder and unzipped it in my Bg2 Main Directory folder, and I unzipped all the files. It unzipped 142 files on one, and 3 on the other, but only 3 files appeared in my main directory. Then, I went and loaded a saved game, and Cespanar is starting to say what Nalia is saying, and all the create weapon options are gone (all of them). So I went back, but there were only 3 Nalia files there, so I uninstalled SoA and ToB, then re-installed them, but it didn't help any, everyone's dialogue was screwed up, so I had to delete everything.

Does this help any?

Weird mod, is more like it. I downlaoded it, it never worked for me, now I find it's because I have Ascension installed. *Sigh* Has there been a script posted on the net that has all the dialogs?

You have ToB patched up to the most recent version right?

I could have sworn Nalia was a weidu mod. But sorry about that. Digging around on the site, I found :

Quote:
You may want to back up your old BGII configuration first, should you desire to uninstall the mod. To do that, make a backup of your "override" folder and copy a file named "dialog.tlk" to some place. The installer overwrites "dialog.tlk", nullifying any custom items you may had. Of course, you can re-install them, but AFTER installing the mod. The installation procedure is simple: enter the path of your BGII installation folder to the field named "/your bgII install dir./" and press "unzip".You can also run winzip, but one should know that the files have to be extracted to the BGII installation folder, NOT to the override folder.
Another important thing is that the romance REQUIRES Throne of Bhaal! It uses some of it's resources(namely the visual effects) and the dialog.tlk file is taken from TOB. The official patch should also be applied prior to installing the mod.
Looking at that, you have to install it after the official patch and baldurdash fixpack, but before everything else. If Cespenar is using Nalias dialogues, it means that your dialogue.tlk isnt right. Most mods would cause that.

Ok, here are the sequence of events as far as I piece them together.

You unzipped the Nalia mod into the main directory. That does two things. One, it creates the subfolder 'Nalia', containing 142 setup files. Two, it places the readme and the Nalia install proram into the BG2 main directory.

When you run the the Nalia setup program, it took the 142 files in the Nalia folder and placed them into the Override folder. Override is a folder that seems to have been included for modifications to the BG game - patch files go there, Bigfix files go there, mod files go there.

You tried to play the game, but because of problems - other mods you have installed, for example - it failed to work. God knows why - I couldn't run the Nalia romance either.

You deleted the Nalia setup program and the readme and the Nalia directory, and uninstalled and reinstalled ToB and SoA.

When the game is uninstalled, however, it doesn't delete everything. Any files in the Override folder that were not part of the original install are left there, along with saved games in the Save folder and portraits in the Portrait folder. When you re-installed the game, all the Nalia files were still in the Override folder. In order to get rid ofthem, you would have had to run the Nalia setup program again and select the uninstall option.

Once you deleted everything, of course, the Override folder was deleted and so were the already-installed Nalia files.

That, I think, is what happened. I may be wrong. Try using the Nalia romance without any other modifications (ease of use, dungeon-be-gone, Ascension, etc etc) to see if it works then. Hope that helps!
