I'm kind of confused now, because something definitely has gone wrong with my installation of BG2 - SoA. I had installed BG2 - SoA, and after that ToB. Then I installed both the Baldurdash fixpack and the patch of Bioware. Nothing more, nothing less.
But with all this talk about Tactics Mod, Solaufein, Valen and anti-paladins I *did* get quite curious about them, and decided to download a couple of those WeiDU mods. I downloaded the Valen mod, Tactics Mod, Solaufein Mod and Ascension Mod. After installation of these four (I could be an enormous geek here for not knowing about any conflicts between the mods, but I recall reading about "the WeiDU mods being totally compatable with each other") the quick-load screen seems to be normal, but when I've entered the main menu (where you choose between Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal) I can't see the names on the buttons themselves. Are you still following me? Admitted, it isn't such a big nuisance, because we all know which one is which, but still.. Nevertheless I decided to go on, and try that anti-paladin kit. Shadows of Amn menu was working okay again, but when I had started a new single player game, things were getting goofy again. I could choose gender easily, and the portrait as well, but I couldn't see any kits (no letters), so I didn't know which one to choose.. Really weird, so that's why I'm asking you guys what could be wrong.

Never heard of anything quite like this before. Usualy when a weiDU mod goes wrong the wrong text starts appearing, not no text at all.
Only mod you have that affects the menu screens at all is tactics, which adds the AP kit to the kit selection. Try removing the AP kit and see if that helps?.

I've had this before, Link. The only way I could get around it was to re-install everything, including the mods. A pain, I know.

You can uninstall the AP kit by running the tactics installation program again. In theory, that should return your button labels, assuming Im right on whats causing it which is in no way certain.
Unfortunatley, if the file is screwed your very likely going to have to reinstall BG2 from scratch again to get a clean dialogue.tlk to work with. This is why, after installing Bg2, ToB, official patch, fixpack - its a good idea to make acopy of your dialogue.tlk and override folder. Get back to an unmodded game without too much hassle.

Did you install the Dutch version ? When i installed Tactics, Valen, Solaufein and Improved Items in Spanish, i had the same problem, the archer and anti paladin kit text wasnt showing. I just uninstalled tactics mod (by running the setup again and choosing Uninstall) and reinstalled the english version, and when i tried again the text was there.
No need to reinstall the whole game, those mods seem to be pretty well designed and you can uninstall them just running the setup. Nice job. [ 03-24-2003, 06:49 PM: Message edited by: Ertai_OHF ]

These are probably stupid questions, but I'll give them a shot.

Yeah, the order was as you said, Seraph, and it was the WeiDU version of Ascension. I found it using Dundee's sticky thread and clicked on the link "WeiDU mods", so I guess it's WeiDU. Funny thing is, though, that I've reinstalled everythig, save for Ascension, and everything seems to be working just fine.
