Does 100% MR protect you against all psionic attacks (Ilithids, ...) ?

Apparently yes. Just tested it with Boo (100% MR) against a Mind Flayer. Even when he fails his save Magic Resistance negates the effect.

I CLUA-ed him in
createcreature("Boo); and then Ctrl-Q ed him. He rocks! 5 attacks and DEX 25, All saving throws at 1 and 100 MR.

Psionic Attacks ignore Magic Resistance. Examples include Psionic Domination and Psionic Stun. Saves will help though.

Are you sure?
Like I said, I spawned myself a Mind Flayer and kept running around him. MOst times I made my saves but when I rolled 1 the effects didn't take place either and it said "Magic Resistance" in the combat window. [ 05-25-2003, 05:57 AM: Message edited by: Faceman ]

Then the next question is - are all psionic attacks "saveable" ?

yes, i believe so. makes sense too, since psionics affect the mind, and those of strong will power should be able to "shrug off" the effects.
edit: im not sure, however, if psionic domination allows a save... [ 05-25-2003, 06:59 AM: Message edited by: Raistlin Majere ]

If Magic Resistance was able to counter Psionics, nobody would be worshipping Chaotic Commands anymore already. There are many very good reasons why Psionics are so feared, and their ignoring Magic Resistance is one of those reasons.
I don't suppose you are running the Mac-Version of BG2 are you? If the Psionics in your game are not ignoring Magic Resistance, you got a pretty big bug. Do you have any mods installed? |
