Which big bad boss do you think is the toughest/ hardest to kill in the whole IWD game - including expansions?

Just for the record mine would be the Loremaster.

Any other info gratefully received, such as which has the best characterisation, which is the coollest, the easiest to kill etc.

Thanks in advance.

I know what you mean. You should have seen my cleric running around while three people stood still, firing arrows at this stupid goblin chasing my cleric in circles. Anyway, it was tough.

LOL!

I hate when they pick on the weakest ones. I remember, in the end of Easthaven, those dudes on the level where Poquelin "mirror images" himself only chased my mage while i was doing the same as you. It sucked, no time to cast spells (except Mirror Image, etc.)

Oh If we're talking about HOF mode, then I definitely go along with the goblins. Nasty lil' buggers for a 1st level party! After that, the high summoner level gets second place. I found out that the summoner is actually casting a summoning spell (thanks azred!) but its a script in the game. By the time we finished clearing that level using attack, retreat, rest, attack again etc etc tactics, that room with the high summoner was bursting at the seams with trolls and lizardmen! Packed in there like SARDINES!!! LOL Never seen so many freaking monsters in one place in my life!

hehe I know that level well. I never found the goblins that hard though as it's extremely possible to defeat them as long as you lure them away one at a time. I've recently gone through IWD using HOF from the start (gave up on the solo effort ) and was equally as shocked as you when I saw the inside of that summoning room! Everytime I quick loaded, I was greeted by by the message "high summoner: summon trolls or lizard men" and they all seemed to accumulate every time I used quick load. It took me absolutely ages until I was ready to assault the high summoner himself although it's so much fun disposing of a room that full. I openend the door, casted confusion, slammed the door and watched the lovely messages "troll did 12 slashing damage to tougher lizard man" etc. After a few confusion stampeeds, I opened the door and finished them of with a few fireballs and skull traps. Lovely, lovely XP Gotta love HOF!

If you are facing the stupid halflings hut, to your right and lsightly behind you in that room up the stairs, with three adventures there. They took my party apart. The first to go was Faldrin, the fighter, guy with Hammer (or mace with ligthtening strike..?) smacked her which took half her life, and before I could get her to run he smacked her again..then he's on to Audrigh, the Fighter/Cleric, one smack then a spell from one of the others..and on down the line till two left, Tanoch and Novem, so I just sat back and watched...

So I reloaded and did this:

Paladin and Fighter attacked the Lightening mace guy, Audrigh the fighter/druid stood around healing and thorwing the occaional spell, Novem and Tanoch slung arrows and ran around dodging spells...Anais, the Fighter Cleric healed and ressurected anyone who died. I kinda cheesed on resurrection...after the char is alive I run them over to their equipment, then paused, re-armed them, then unpaused to rejoin the fray..after a bit, the two males stopped slinging spells and got nitty gritty, I killed on then group attacked the mace guy, with Tanoch and Novem still slinging arrows at the femal spell caster..like the other user above, it was kinda funny watching them run in circles around the screen!!

After resting and healing up, I cheesed the Harpies..outside, I cast all defensive spells, then went in, had everyone cept Anais, slinging bolts, arrows and axes at head harpy till the others closed in, after a few of my chars got worn down a bit, I moved them out the door...rinse, and repeat. Only Faldrin died once against the harpies...which was weird, apparently she died as I was leaving the room, becuase her dead body came with me outside, but her equipment stayed indoors, which was rough trying to get too...
