I did a HOF party from scratch, but it was full, not short. HOF gobbies are amazingly difficult, bringing, if I recall rightly, 3500 xp at level 1, so you will go up quickly.
Since they hardly ever miss, you can expect a hard time until you've gained some levels (I recommend max hitpoints for everyone in the party!). You want every spellcaster to have monster summoning, and it should be the ready spell for all of them. This was the only way I could manage. |

b) I've heard that it can be done. c) Sorry, no suggestions. d) If you mangage to survive, you should level up monstrously fast for a while. I don't know from experience, but by the time you clear the docks I think that you could easily be level 4-5 or more. |

***BRAGGING TIME***
I beat Icewind Dale 2 HoF with a four-player party consisting of: 1.sorcerer-the party lead, charisma over the roof 2.me-fighter 5/necromancer x, drow; extreme character, nice spell resistance 3.dual-axe-wielding cleric of tempus-very usefull 4.fighter 4/barbarian x-the tank I got as high as level 29. Nice. (started on levels 19, 18, 19, 19)

To my shame, i started hof with 6 level one, the first goblin killed my cleric, the second (where did he came from?????) killed my wizard, never tried it since.
Very tough thing to do. but if you manage....

SOME MORE BRAGGING
My drow Paladin(awesome spell resistance) was alone in his quest to stop the chimera. He was the one stopped, in the Fields of Slaughter by the Lich M'Drafein or something. The character is now enjoying his days in the underworld, chanting "I hate Finger of Death. I hate Finger of Death. I hate Figner of Death...". I tried the battle over and over again, but he always casts it, or Wail of the Banshee or Power Word: Kill, and I fail the save.
