Does anyone actually use these things????? Everytime that I have experimented with them all it does is throw one party member out in front of the rest so that they bear the brunt of any suprise assault that may come around while they wait for the rest of the party to save them.

My only possible use for them would be to use them on a soloing character.

Hey, I equip my thief with them and hide her in the shadows, then use her to scout. You can quickly scout the entire map and if the HiS fails while near an enemy, you can escape rather quickly. Also makes for a great backstab attack...
Hide in shadows, run in and Backstab, then quickly run out of sight and repeat process. Do this with the Dagger of Venom, and Nymph Cloak ( Or the one stolen from the fat man in the FeldPost inn ) and you have an almost unstoppable thief.

Never even thought of that...of course my thief is my primary archer so that may be why.

I used Khalid, Jaheria, & imoen as my ranged attackers.
My entire party is only myself and the three mentioned above. I am a human fighter with 4 stars in Long Sword. The 4 of us have really kick the games arse.

If you run into trouble, don't forget that the speed that got you into that trouble, can get you out of that trouble (run away!). They are really good at imediatly engaging in melee thos mage-seeking archers.

The can be 'found' in the Cloakwood mine - on a hostile NPC

And they are very useful on the main tank - he can close on the enemies really fast.

You're correct, Baggins, that is precisely what I use the Boots for--to make sure that all the bad guys are aiming their weapons at the ONE guy that they can't hit--my Tank. This frees up the rest of my party to do whatever the heck they want to, and none of the enemies even think to start attacking them.
