need help in the crypt.

ok the walkthrough that came with the game said after putting scabban out of his misery I push the button on the wall and the way to a new crypt will open,I have pushed the button but I cant seem to find the water way to go in there is one water way that looks like it would open but when I try to open it the bars are still closed is this the right path to take or is there another water way to open?

When I talked to Scabban, it was in his lab. After killing him, there is a lever on the wall behind him. The lever opens those bars in the bottom of the pool you are looking at. I have heard that other people met him somewhere else and had to walk up to his lab to move the lever. In his lab there is a hole in the floor that drops down to that pool with the bars blocking the hole. You should be able to hit the lever, turn around and jump into the hole and then swim down. If the room with the button did not have a hole in it, then you may have hit a different button. If it did, then perhaps you need to go back up and move the lever to the opposite position.
