I know where it is... my problem is I keep getting waylaid by an army of scanthrils, spiders, and weird plant things. No matter how indirect my route I keep getting surrounded. Am I trying to get their too early in the game? Both my wizard and rogue guild quests told me to go there...
I can fight for while...but I can't defeat all of them. I've never seen so many enemies on the screen at the same time.... YIKES!

Night Blade -

This is one of the most difficult areas and the mantraps make it particularly so.
I'll bump up a thread on mantraps which will give you good advice on how to handle them (at a distance).
What is your spawn rate set to now? Turn it down for this area the first time you go through. Set difficulty at easy if it isn't already set that way.

What long range offensive spells do you have?? Flamedrop and and similar spells are your best weapons for this area!

Hope that will help and if I haven't already - welcome to the board!

Here's what I did: I wandered around, and managed to find the mantraps and ran roughly south. It just so happened, it was a narrow way through the trees. They couldn't get through, and wouldn't even attack, so I was able to flame-drop and zap them (eventually to the end). For the others, run away, I mean RUN, turn and range attack, then run. Spiders have no range, Rat's only some, knives or stars, but they don't hurt to much. Don't lead them to town, try and circle around to cut them down.

Thnx Wyvern and Binky!
I'm probably going to finish the snake temple first so I can go up some more levels... I'll let you know how it turns out.

Definitely a good idea to finish the Snake Temple before tackling the Mantraps.

A good rule of thumb is: The farther west you go, the more difficult it gets...with the singular exception of the ridiculously easy Stout Mines.
