Greetings all! You seem to have a friendly bunch of people here. I got a huge kick from, among other things, the thread lower down from the guy who vowed to kill the dragon.

Anyhow, I was yet another victim of the snake figurine retrieval problem. If anyone is keeping stats on the problem, I am running with the patch and finally got the dang thing by leaving my entire party in town except a wee little female gnome. I still couldn’t get through that bleeping tunnel until I tried surfacing early and kept my head banged against the ceiling until I finally got through - sheesh. You folks might want to consider posting the contents of the Servants Book to help others experiencing the retrieval problem.

This game is proving challenging due to the fact that it went through a lot of hands before being given to me without a manual. I didn’t figure out how to use magic, scrolls or potions with the Ctrl key until just before the Naga (very good timing). Trying to figure out how to play the game has been a pretty fun game in itself.

I have a few questions for anyone with a few spare minutes:
-Do you ever get to fly in this game? I’d love to see what this world looks like from the air.
-I was just wondering around minding my own business on the far side of Ishad N’Ha and about jumped out of my skin when I got killed, very spectacularly, by a couple of escapees from the Little Shop of Horrors. What are those plants called, at least I hope they’re plants and can’t chase you, and how common are they? [Please don’t tell me how to fight them, for the time being I’ll just try running like sin]
-And finally, I’m sort of thinking that this may end up being a game that I want to play repeatedly and might for future use want to have the manual, and whatever else is supposed to be with this CD. I’m not able to go out to the stores looking for it and was wondering if anyone knows where the game is available the cheapest online?

Thanx

Welcome to the board Longshanks!!!

Sadly, you do not get to fly.
The Lilies (mantraps) are sort of a rite of passage. If you can't kill them, then you have no right to pass (groan)
Try doing a search in Yahoo Shopping area on the title. It will list many stores that carry the game - BUT don't just go for the cheapest - best to come back here and ask if anyone can recommend this or that merchant. Or check the online auctions - someone might be selling a copy!
You'll get plenty of help here for any of your questions too!

If there is sufficient demand...

I'm thinking about scanning in my manual and making it available as a free PDF file...not sure about copyrights, though.

Being that a lot of games are being sold sans manuals, I don't think they'd have a right to fuss about it.

Anyone?

Saz,
Any possibility of putting spells and such on Slip's site?
Hints tips, etc to include them?
No manual SUX!

Longshanks, if there is no way possible to get them posted on a site, you can always come here and ask about the different spell books, traits, and abilities.
I for one will give you detailed answers. That seems fair or can anyone tell me if I might be crossing a line?

Moni

P.S. Welcome to the forum!
One hint...you let those plants follow you back to town (and they WILL) you could be in a heap 'O trouble!

Moni: At one time back in November, I was putting together a web site with all the hints, strategies, tables, etc. for Wizards and Warriors that I was planning to host at Wizardrealm...then I read a thread on the board where someone sounded like they were bashing someone else's W&W help site for having "stolen" most of the ideas from the forum...

and I started thinking, back during Daggerfall days, when I had one of the biggest walkthrough sites for Daggerfall, how I would get flamed part of the time, and the other part of the time people unsolicitedly clogging up my e-mail poking their saved games at me saying "fixit!"...and I asked myself, "do I really want to do this to myself again?"

So I trashed the site.

Then Rick came out with his great site just about that time, so I was just as glad as I had done so. However...it makes me wish I still had some of those old tables, etc...I had done an extensive one on all the magical spells and realms, much better than the manual had.

Maybe I should go back and try to resuscitate that...if Slip would be interested. And I need to be less concerned about what others think.

Hugs,
Sazerac

Most definitely!
As long as you are not violating copyright laws, you have the right to do as you please on your site! I think it would be a great idea for those who buy the game secondhand and don't get the manual! It is important to learning the game!

Saz,

I'd be happy to host any of your information (with full credit to you, of course!). Hints and tables on magic, weapons, traits, etc. would benefit many new players.
