Ireland? because i was playing through and in Larswood i noticed the Druids building a temple and i explored and it looked like stone henge. i also noticed that the temple was Arabic and that most towns were based in the year 400A.D. meaning there are about 3 different time periods(at least) in the game. and some of the time periods dont even come from the same contanint.

Baldur's Gate is based on an entirely fictional world called Faerun. There are going to be elements in it from all around the world, because obviously our own earth is all the designers have as far as inspiration goes. Stonehenge is in Wiltshire, in England, so not Ireland, but there are more similarities with places in other countries too, as you've found out yourself

Most of the fantasy worlds/games are inspired by the books by J.R.R. Tolkien: "The Hobbit", the triology "Lord of the Rings" and "The Simarillon".

Tolkien has gathered his inspiration from old/new/ancient religions, legends, myths, folktales, history, etc.
