Some questions from someone new to online playing...

 1. Do you need to save your character often? I played for an hour or so, gained two levels, when my session timed out on me. When I signed back in I was back to my original level and inventory.
 2. Are the chests, crates, quest rewards and other loot set (this chest will always have a +1 longsword and a fireball scroll) random (the chest has a different item each time) or directed to the character (fighter gets a sword, wizard gets a scroll)?
 3. My dwarven fighter is looking for a good dwarven waraxe. On what level should he look? Level only please... He will look for it himself once he gets down there...
 4. Would somebody please buy that dwarf next to Durnan a drink? He is so annoying when I am trying to do some business with Durnan. (j/k)

Hopefully some answers

1. Saving often wont help if the server does reset when you time out. This is because if you save your character it just creates a local copy of your character on your pc not the server. Servers usualyl save instantly unless something like a time out or a reset happens.

2. Some chests are random. Some are set.

3. Hmmm not sure of any off the top of my head. I will keep and eye out for you

4. He is funny. Adds character to the inn. Have you noticed on the ground floor we have the dwarf looking for a beer, on the 1st floor we have a wandering bartender, and on the 3rd floor we have a dwarf wandering saying mmmm, beer. Funny eh ?

1. You can save your character by logging off. Usually, servers shouldn't time out so you don't need to bother with relogging, but if it's happened to you once or twice in the same place, its a good idea to log off and back in whenever you've made some significant progress in items or levels.

2. What TDC said. Many are set and some are random. They don't reload their contents after a while.

3. You'll probably have more luck with battle- and greataxes, warhammers, or bastard swords. Some of the most heavily enchanted items are longswords and daggers. Open enough chests and you're bound to find something decent if there aren't any in the stores.

4. The problem with jokes is they aren't funny anymore after you hear them too many times. The dwarf is quite loud about it, and speaks often. Perhaps add a percentage chance of him saying anything to the script, or decrease the chance if there's one already present.

Tip #5. Don't attempt to destroy the Inn.

Thanks for all the answers;

T-D-C: You mean "Save Character" saves a copy on my PC every time? Uh oh **checks the pregenerated characters on his computer** 14 COPIES of my Undermountain character!! Oooops **delete delete delete**

Legolas: Thanks for the weapon suggestions. Yes, I understand there are better weapons out there but I am trying to roleplay a dwarf who thinks the dwarven waraxe is the greatest thing since sliced orcs... He is hardheaded and won't listen to the overwhelming evidence otherwise .

Stormymystic: I am playing a good aligned character... He does not want to start a bar-room brawl in the Yawning Portal Inn. Rumours have reached his ears that destroying the place is *ahem* frowned upon...

Chuck Gabriel: Thanks for the clue. That's good enough for me. I will be using the axe of the Dwarven Lord from Durnan until I see a better one. The hammerfell merchant upstairs and the Skullport dwarven merchant don't have anything better (you would think being dwarves..)
My Clvl 14 character has only reached the fourth level so far (English translation: getting his butt kicked by Elite Lizardman Guards on level 4)
but I will keep an eye out for this when I reach that level.

Animal: see my comments to Stormy.

Once again, thanks for all your help.

I have a question too! SPOILER ALERT if you haven't been to level five and don't want to be spoiled, leave this post now!

Is the blue dragon not on level five anymore? I've been twice this week and Red is there but no blue with the Rakshasa at the entrance to lvl 6. Does he just not respawn or is he not there anymore?
