I have an ancient paperback copy of John Bellair's The Face in the Frost. If you can find it I highly recommend it. Gary Gygaxx of the AD&D fame listed in back of the 1st Edition of the DM's Guide as a significant shaper of the old P&P version. Has anybody else read Bellair? He is an excellent wordsmith, but his stuff has been out of print for a long time. I also heard that he died only a few years ago.
