I was just watching some of the standup routines that are on the cable stations tonight, and the question just popped up in my mind? Who is your favorite comedian? Mine would have to be George Carlin, though I prefer his newer stuff over his older stuff. I also liked Sam Kinison, Eddie Murphy (Raw was excellent), and political humor (some of the stuff from Bill Maher and Dennis Miller). And after all of those previously listed, you can also tack some of Bill Cosby's stuff on there (good change of pace to the other stuff). However, I like Carlin the best of all of them.

Also, which one do you see people liking that you think is overrated? I have to say Steve Martin and Billy Crystal both fall in this category for me. I didn't even like Steve Martin back in the King Tut days, and Billy Crystal just annoys me.

Bill Hicks
George Carlin (actually prefer his older stuff)
Dana Gould
Richard Pryor
Gary Mule Deer

Overrated are Chris Tucker (annoying as hell) and Pablo Francesco, his album is hilarious (the first 2 times you hear it), but I saw him on stage and he is terrible, always milking the same jokes over and over and making lame immitations.

Oops, I missed Richard Pryor. I do like him, as well. However, I also agree about Chris Tucker being annoying. He is alright (not good) with Jackie Chan in the two "buddy cop" flicks, but otherwise he is pretty bad in my mind.

I do like Foxworthy, but not enough to put him on my list of favorites. I haven't seen anything with Bill Engvall.

Nanobyte, I have not heard of Dat Phan here in the United States, so maybe you can fill me in about him. Is he more satirical or slapstick (or both or neither)? Just curious!

I think I saw Dat Phan on the "Last comic standing" show

Oh and speaking of Jeff Foxworthy...
If you ever cut you lawn and found a car...
If you have a home that is mobile and 14 cars that aren't...
If you go to a family reunion to meet women...

you might be a redneck...

No comment on that... (I may live in Texas, but I'm a transplanted Yankee).

So that's why I've never heard of him...

Oh, and what do people see in Jay Mohr? He's another one that could vanish and I could care less.
