I watched this movie yesterday. Find it OK, typical disaster movie but thought its overall message was pretty scary and powerful despite it being fiction I believe the message to be real.

I think people from Florida could attest to its message. Obviously the climate is changing.

Also watched CORN, another OK movie with a powerful messages of genetically enhanced food, typical Frankenstein Monster theme with how far should we push science in messing with mother nature. A corn that is suppose to kill all weeds, produces a new weed that has an effect on a neighboring farms sheep making them violent as well as causing abortions and abnormalities in unborn children in new mothers that eat the sheep.

Anyone else have any opinions on these movies?

I like the action that comes from them, but I don't like the blatant advertisements, such as the one that was the last sentence in Day After. It is too obvious and cliché for my liking...but other than that, a fun movie to watch for entertainment.

See...I get enough preaching from other sources, and want to watch a movie for the movie...not for a message. Messages in movies suck.

Day After Tomorrow has some good acting, but the story and all the factual details are not only farfetched, they are impossible! I find the movie pretty naive, and it's obvious the screenwriters didn't put much effort into making it credible, but the movie is still quite entertaining. I haven't watched Corn, in fact, I've neer heard of it. Is it new or did you find it somewhere in a videostore?

CORN is a new release in video stores (1 day rental) but not a big Hollywood Blockbuster with tons of coverage and advertisements so that is most likely why you have never heard of it. I notice alot of these new releases coming out in video stores lately many of which are better than what is being hyped for release in theaters, Godsend was another good one about cloning that I watched recently.

I thought the Day after Tomorrow was pretty weak... had fun heckeling it though.

IMO-
Bad acting, implausable scenario, spotty effects (some good, some bad), WEAK plot (lets see, killer storms are taking air temps down to -200 or whatever... lets all walk from Washington to New York!)

If they'd been going for campy they could've had something... but I THINK they wanted us to take the movie seriously. LOL!
