I know this has been discussed at length before, but I want to clarify things.

By my calculations, you can advance Imoen to level 7 as a Thief (ironically, her starting level in BG2), and still have enough XP left over to get to Wizard level 8.

Level 7 Thief: 40,000 XP
Level 8 Wizard: 90,000 XP

130,000 total XP, out of 161,000 with TotSC installed

I know it would take a long time to reactivate those thief skills, but this sure would really help with continuity between the two games.

Is my math right? Are these the correct XP levels for the appropriate classes?

Thanks a lot, in advance, for your input.

Question Mark

Yes, those numbers are accurate and yes, it is possible, although time-consuming.

The important question is this: why would you want Imoen when Safana is so much more...interesting?

Of course not. Imoen is too whiny. Personal preference, and all that.

In terms of story and role-playing then Imoen is a natural as a Thief/Mage. But from a practical point of view I never liked the Thief/Mage combination. I prefer my Mage to stay in the background, not to be out front doing Trap-Finding and Back-Stabbing. So is it just me or is Imoen a really useful companion in Thief/Mage guise?

Well spells like Stoneskin and Mirror Image go a long way to make your mage/thief the ideal person to be walking over traps that you don't notice in time.

I hate Imoen as a mage, but that's just me.

Safana apparently makes the return to Baldur's Gate a lot easier, but I've never tried it myself.
