I noticed a couple of things on a few threads so I thought I would post a couple of tips that may save a bit of frustration here and there.
The first tip is that each square can only hold so much stuff after you leave the map area. If I remember right, if you drop more than 8 items in a single square, then leave the map area and come back, some of your items will be missing. This is definately a pain when one of those items is the Map of Legends. There are four areas of unlimited xp, each with a different difficulty level and in different spots of the game. 1. The top secret area in New City. This one is great for lower level characters. I found that after level 7, it was just not enough xp to make it worthwhile. But it is a great place for changing classes. One character changes classes, and everyone beats up on Savant Troopers. As that character goes up, someone else changes. A key to killing Savant Troopers is to have a high level bless. They hit you a lot less. 2. Killing Br. Tshobar. If you kill him, Father Ralae doesn't like you much, but when you leave the river and come back, Tshobar's Ghost keeps reappearing. 3. The X in the Greater Wilds. This one is a bit random. You could find yourself with 4 crows, or you could end up with 2 godzilli or several groups of worms. You have to walk all the way around the path and then enter the center to get the next monster to show up, tho. 4. In the Hall of the Past there is a great area that keeps popping up demons and other high level monsters. While they are not as tough as the Godzilli, they are more constant and you only have to step back and then step into them for another group. There is a fifth area, but they are not unlimited even though they are great for xp. In the Umpani city (I forget the name), when the guards keep asking if you if you will show your orders, you can tell them "no." They will then bring up several groups of Umpani with tons of xp. You can do this several times in a row with no side effects, but if you do it too often, all the umpani turn against you and you can't get the thermal pinapple. There are only a few good secondary weapons in the game. The best is the Faerie Rod, but that can only be used by a faerie. Among the better ones are the Ymu's paw (which can be found in the T'Rang city graveyard and digging at Ymu's grave), Pandora's wand, and my favorite, Diamond Eyes. Diamond Eyes is a mace that doesn't seem to stand out much, but it can be used as a primary and a secondary weapon and does more damage than some primary weapons. When I played with a 6 character party, my lord had the Light Sword and Diamond Eyes, while my faerie ninja had the Cane of Corpus and the Faerie Rod. Cursed items will stay with the character after a class change, even if the character could not normally use the item. For example, I had a monk running around once with chain of divine mail and getting regenerated because he had it on when he changed classes. Hope that some of these tips helps someone. Hey, some good tips there friend! You know, I recall finding the mace called Diamond eyes....I kept finding it the Gorror chests...but I did not know it could be used as a secondary weapon...that's a really good tip! What classes can use it? I'm think its only for a Lord, Valk, Fighter. Here is what my final party is using: Elven Lord: Excaliber - Melees for up to 60+ damage per hit. I would have picked the Avenger as it is one handed, but it does not melee in Wiz 7, but I sure thought it did in Wiz 6. Saz, can you clear this up? He also has the Elven Bow for the back rank, which is a NICE item. Faeire Monk: Light Sword - (he also has 100 in Power Strike, whether he melees or not, he scores from 40-90 damage per hit). Also has Pandoras Wand - which does ok damage, and always stones monsters, if he doesnt kill them first with the Light Sword. Faerie Ninja: Cane of Corpus, Faerie Rod - No need to explain this one, he terroizes people, and that Faerie Rod does good damage! 4-16 per hit I believe. Gnome Valkyre: She's in the back ranks with the Maenads Lance, and also has a Blade Cuisinart in case I want to put her up front. Does really good damage. Felpurr Samurai: Has a Zatoichi Bo, which does knockout and A LOT of damage. He also has a Muramasa Blade and a Pandoras Wand, and in the front line he can wreak havoc with these. Rawulf Samurai: Another Zatoichi Bo, also has some powerful arrows. I think he can use the Blade Cuisinart as well, he mainly stays in the back ranks and uses Nuclear Blast. It sounds like the Diamond Eyes may be better than Pandoras wand, while weak on damage, it does many ailments (stone, death, etc). Ymmu's paw, Saz let me in on that one...a nice little item, but not all that strong...or does it multiply with your regular physical attack since it is really a glove, not a dagger? I could never kill Brother T'Shober! I'd miss his silly antics...I think the Hall of the Past stock up is one of the best...and I had forgotten about the control card one! Anyone else care to list their party members weapons? Or armor? Take care, Scronan |

are all of these above mentioned items found in the crypt? ? ? i know that the zatoichi bo is found in the crypt and gorrors chests. and the elven bow is in the dragon chests. but what of the farie rod and diamond eyes, and avenger and excaliber? i always pick the STONE in the land of dreams, probably because i'm lazy and don't like healing, resting and curing poison.
also, what does the other stuff in the city of sky do? i've had the sword of light a few times but never picked anything else. this time i will because after i work so hard to get 2 cane of corpus, i'm definately going to stick keep them! (that is if i ever get that far before i get my hands on wiz8.) do tell where you found all this great stuff. and also where i am likely to bump into xen xheng? |

Slug: To find Xen Xheng (or any other person), cast "Locate Person" (Mind spell) at the highest level. It will tell you who's living, who's dead (remember the NPC's kill each other, too!) and where the living ones are. Only one bug I've noticed: it will still tell you that Yamo is in Ukpyr, even after he's dead. It only gives general locations, like "Old Cemetery", "Funhouse", "Giantlands", "Tramontane", so you'll need to head there fairly quickly when you get the "summons." I've also found that after a while, the NPC's will hunt you down!
Faerie Rod and Diamond Eyes tend to be in the Gorrors chests, although I've found them in chests in the Hall of the Past. They're pretty much random, so reload if you don't like what you get. The City of Sky weapons are: 1: the Mercurian Light Sword (great melee weapon) 2: the Mercurian Light Shield (gives 90% resistance to magical effects) 3: the Frontiersman Phaser Pistols (fires Light bullets which do mega damage, need powerpacks to charge) 4: the Cobaltine Power Glove (same as Vi Domina has; does pretty much the same as the Phaser Pistols). HINT! IF you completed Wiz 6: Bane of the Cosmic Forge AND leagued with the Bane King and Rebecca rather than fighting them (i.e., you dropped the Queen's silver cross before meeting with them), Rebecca will give your characters a Diamond Ring. This can be used on one of the other doors in the Hall of Preservation (someone likes New Orleans Jazz at Sir-Tech ![]() Good hints, Knarfling. I, like Scronan, never fought T'Shober, and preferred to do the Hall of the Past thing. However, one game in which I leagued with the T'Rangs, I fought the Umpani over and over and over in the Umpani Headquarters. My characters shot up to level 50, and I hadn't even gotten to the Dane tower yet! The items square thing, however, I never had a problem with. Before meeting with Bleinmeis, who steals items from you (including needed quest items!), I always dropped everything I had that wasn't equipped in the square right before meeting with him. When I went back, everything was there, although it took a lot of sorting out! Quite often, I had about 30-45 items dropped there. Maybe yours was a fluke...? Or maybe mine was. I rarely dropped anything, except for that one instance. The other thing is: if you've got a cursed item equipped that another class can't wear, it generally will not let you change to that class until you've uncursed the item and unequipped it. I can only assume that the "Gown of Divinemail" can be worn by monks as well. (It may be like the Dragon Armor in WW that can be worn by all classes). I assume everyone has read the thread about charging the Thermal Pineapple to be able to use it in battle? It casts a 6th level Nuclear Blast spell and can pretty much take out almost any group of monsters, or at least do some major damage to heavy-duty ones that aren't fire-resistant. Keep it charged up with the "Recharge" spell. -Sazerac |

I am surprised that you couldn't change classes. I never had it tell me I couldn't change classes and I distintly remember wearing the divine mail, changing classes and then having to uncurse. I then, accidently, removed the divine mail and couldn't re-equip it because my character wasn't supposed to have it.
As for the items, the items don't disappear unless you leave the map area. So if you are in a town, you would have to leave the town before items disappear. You could dump a hundred items in one block and as long as you stayed in town nothing would happen to any of it. I discovered the trouble because I liked to pick up items and sell them. Many of my "quest" items couldn't be used until much later (like the comb and brushes), so I would dump them in New City. Several of my items kept vanishing and once I lost the *Legend* Map that you must have to complete the game. After some experimenting I found that as long as I stayed in New City, the items stayed. If I left New City and came back, I some of the items vanished. I sometimes found My Diamond Eyes in the caves below the City of the Sky. The chests near the dragons were always good for some cool stuff, but they were often difficult to get into. I even found Excaliber in those chests once. I LOVED that recharge of the thermal pinapple. Not only did it do great damage, but it could not be silenced and anyone could use it. It was like storing tons of mana that gave you more than double your mana back. (It costs much more mana to cast the level 6 Nuclear Blast 3 times than it does to charge the pinapple with 3 charges.) The only reason to kill Tshober is to get experience early in the game. The Hall of the past is definately the best one for leveling although you can sometimes get more difficult monsters in the Greater Wilds. But the Wilds are less consistant and you have to do more work to get the monsters to appear. The control card is area is the best for early levels, but there is almost nothing for when you are too strong for the control card but not strong enough for the Hall or the Wilds. Most of the time I couldn't bear to kill him. He was too funny. His ghost is not nearly as funny. I loved it when he tried to "be nice" about the Dane. I may have to actually dig out my notes and run through the game again....After I finish this round of W&W. Duty! Power!! Victory!!!
